Digital technology is evolving rapidly, opening new paths, posing new challenges, and changing social and economic realities at exponential rates.

As an institutional partner of the state, SEPE as well as the IT and telecommunications sector in our country, have as their central goal and main axis of their actions the promotion of the fastest utilization of digital technology for the development of Greek economy and the welfare of Greek society.

The presence and positioning of the Government, the Official Opposition, and all participants in the digital economy forum 2023 constitute an indisputable affirmation of the National Agenda for the implementation of a modern digital Greece and for the country's emergence as an international hub of innovation in digital technology.

The digital economy forum 2023: Shaping Greece's Digital Future was held on Monday, December 18, 2023. Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Economy and Finance, will be the keynote speaker at the official dinner, while the Leader of the Official Opposition, Stefanos Kasselakis will inaugurate the conference proceedings.

Stefanos Kasselakis was born in Athens in 1988. At the age of 14 he migrated to the United States, after succeeding the mathematics award in the Archimedes competition of the Greek Mathematical Society. Due to that award, he was accepted with a full scholarship as a student, at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Earning the Andreas Dracopoulos Scholarship, he completed successfully the Huntsman program studies at the University of Pennsylvania, in the fields of finance and international sciences. In 2008, while still being a student, he joined as a volunteer the staff of the -by that time- Senator Joe Biden for the Presidential elections, as well as at the think tank of the foreign policy "Center for Strategic and International Studies". In 2009 after his graduation, he was appointed at Goldman Sachs. In 2015, at the age of 26, he started his independent career in the broader maritime industry. As a self-made entrepreneur and investor in shipping business, he became the CEO of the ship-owning company "SwiftBulk". He is experienced in financial markets, commodities, startups, international trade market, shipping business, industry, fishing trade, and investment management. He carries a deep knowledge regarding entrepreneurship, corporate governance, and ESG issues. He speaks fluently Greek, English, German, French, and Spanish. In 2023, he was a candidate for parliament with SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance and a member of the Election Committee. In September 2023 he became the Leader of the Official Opposition Party in Greece, after he was democratically elected by the members of the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Party.

Adonis Georgiadis was born on November 6th, 1972, in Athens. He is married to Eugenia Manolidou and they have two children, Perseus and Alcaeus. He graduated from the Faculty of History & Archaeology of the School of Philosophy of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 1993, he took over the management of publications 'GEORGIADIS-LIBRARY OF GREEK'. In 1994, he founded the Liberal Studies Center "GREEK EDUCATION". Elected MP in Athens B region in the elections of 2007 and 2009 with the LAOS political party. In February 2012, he joined the Nea Demokratia political party, having resigned from the parliamentary office. Elected with Nea Demokratia in Athens B in the national elections of 2012 and 2015. In 2011, he was Vice Minister of Shipping in the Government of Lucas Papademos and in 2013 he was appointed Minister of Health in the Government of Antonis Samaras. On July 9, 2019, Adonis Georgiadis was sworn in as Minister of Development and Investments in the Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a position he held for 4 years. In the elections of 21 May 2023, Adonis Georgiadis was re-elected Member of Parliament for the Northern Sector of Athens. On June the 27th was sworn as Minister of Labour and Social Welfare.

Dimitris Papastergiou was born in 1973 in Trikala. He graduated from the Polycladic Lyceum of Trikala and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA (National Technical University of Athens). At the same time, he attended journalism courses, while he maintains strong ties with technology and the internet, a relationship that was strengthened at the Multimedia Laboratory of NTUA. In 2001 he built and presented, together with a group of his colleagues, the first integrated website for the Prefecture of Trikala, 3kala.gr. Since 2002 he has been practicing the profession of Electrical and Computer Engineer in the city of Trikala. He was involved in studies and construction of private electromechanical projects and the creation of software programs. In 2007 he entered the field of renewable energy and has constructed more than 300 private renewable energy projects. His involvement in the community began in 2002, with his election to the City Council. He was re-elected in 2006, and in 2014 he was elected Mayor of Trikkaion and member of the Board of Directors of KEDE. He was re-elected Mayor in 2019 and, in the same year, he was elected President of the KEDE. He is married to the engineer Soula Brakis and is the happy father of Faye, Kostas and Nikos. From June 2023, he is Minister of Digital Governance in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Alternate Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece

Nikos Papathanasis presently holds the office of the Alternate Minister of Economy and Finance and was also elected (elections 2023), as a member of the Parliament. From August 2020-May 2023 held the office of Alternate Minister at the Ministry of Development and Investment (portfolio of private and strategic investments, PPP’s & the Just Transition Fund). From July 2019-August 2020 held the office of the Deputy Minister at the same ministry with the responsibility of the portfolio of Industry, Commerce and Consumer’s Protection. During his 35year career, he served as a C-level executive for large corporations with a successful track record in developing business plans, reorganizing and streamlining operations that led to significant positive economic outcome. He received his B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and his M.A.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering (University of Toronto), followed by a Masters in Management Science (University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada). He commenced his career at the DeHavilland Aircraft Company (Bombardier Aerospace) in Toronto while later he served as a member of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry BoD and executive Vice President of Olympic Aviation. During his professional years, he worked mainly in the private sector in high executive and C level managerial positions in companies in Greece and abroad. He managed companies in the fields of construction, real estate development to public transportation as he served as CEO in the Athens Line 1 metro rail system and subsequently Chairman and CEO in the Athens Metro and Light rail system for 8 years. From 2008-2010 he served as a President-elect of the Greek branch of the CEEP providing Public Services (CEEP). From 2017 holds the Chair of the President of the Institute of Democracy “Konstantinos Karamanlis”, a scientific non-profit organization. He served from 2016 until the national elections of 2019 as Director General of the presently governing political Party of “Nea Democratia”.
